St. Francis Celebrates Certified Nurses Day
Tuesday, March 16, 2010

St. Francis Hospital will honor 120 board-certified nurses in celebration of Certified Nurses Day Friday, March 19, from 2-3 p.m. The reception will be held in the Woodruff Atrium (adjacent to the Emergency Department). Nurses are being recognized for their professionalism, leadership and commitment to excellence in patient care through the certification process.

Achieving national certification demonstrates that nurses have met the highest possible standards of nursing care in those areas in which they specialize. Evidence of certification is an important indicator that patients and their loved ones will receive superior care by highly qualified nurses.

St. Francis encourages and supports its nurses to pursue national board certification. The hospital’s unique nursing professional advancement provides financial incentives as well as professional recognition for achieving certifications via its clinical ladder program.

A nursing certification indicates a nurse is highly qualified, competent and current in his/her area of specialty, having achieved rigorous requirements to earn an expert credential.

Certified Nurses Day was created by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). ANCC, a subsidiary of the American nurses Association, is the world’s largest and most prestigious nurse credentialing organization.

Please join St. Francis in honoring these hardworking, dedicated nurses for their professionalism and a job well done!
