NewsDr. W. David Varner Jr. to Receive Dr. Clarence C. Butler Service and Leadership Award Tuesday, January 26, 2010 General surgeon W. David Varner Jr., MD, will be presented the Dr. Clarence C. Butler Service and Leadership Award Tuesday, January 26, for his leadership and many contributions to ensuring the quality of health care at St. Francis and throughout the community. The award will be presented to him at the Sixth Annual Butler Service and Leadership Award dinner. The event, hosted by the St. Francis Foundation, will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, adoptive parents of Baltimore Ravens first round draft pick Michael Oher, will entertain guests at this year’s event. The Tuohy’s touching story of faith and perseverance is featured in the popular new film, “The Blind Side.” The Butler Service and Leadership Award was created to honor the memory of the esteemed Dr. Clarence C. Butler, who left a lasting legacy of excellence. The annual award recognizes individuals, like Dr. Butler, who have had a significant impact on the quality of health care in our region.
