St. Francis' Fast Track Emergency area serves patients with less urgent emergencies, such as twisted ankles and headaches. Having a separate Fast Track ensures that these patients will not have to wait behind patients with life-threatening emergencies; the average wait is only 90 minutes. St. Francis doubled the number of beds in its Fast Track in 2003 when the new Emergency Department was completed. Not only are the rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology, they also have color televisions to make the time go by faster should a patient have to wait.
